Delaware Park Raceway & Casino: Raceway, Slots, Golf
Located in Northern Delaware, Wilmington is the state’s largest city and home to one of Delaware’s three gambling venues – Delaware Park. Featuring thoroughbred racing and a 78,520 square foot casino, Delaware Park is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, except for a six hour period on Sundays from 6 am to 12 pm.
The facility is located at 777 Delaware Park Boulevard, Wilmington, Delaware 19804 – telephone 1-800-41-SLOTS
Horse racing at Delaware Park is held on selected days – 136 days a year – from April 22nd to November 19th. Post time is at 12:45 PM. There are frequent handicapping seminars held at trackside breakfast buffets in the New Castle Room.
A recent addition at Delaware Park, a giant “video wall”, the largest on the East Coast, was installed as a guest amenity.
The casino features 2,500 slots of video lottery and video poker. Recently added five cent and twenty-five cent machines are the latest and most popular video and reel slots, such as:
Crystal Stevens
Triple Jackpot
Fortune cookie
Leopard Spots
Five Times Pay
Cigar
Phantom of the Opera
Recent twenty-five cent machine additions also include Red, White and Blue Bonus Spin, Run for Your Money and Bonus Wheel Triple Diamond.
This is a two story casino and the high limit area is located on the first floor. The rest of the slots are distributed on the first and second floors. Progressive machines, including high limit slots, are located on the first floor. They include:
8 Sizzling Sevens
12 Triple Double Diamonds
12 Tabasco
22 Wheel of Gold
8 Shipwrecked
8 Hot Peppers.
The introduction of game show based slots has proven very popular with casino patrons. Machines such as Jeopardy and The Price is Right are consistently in use. Medusa and Big City 5 offer special bonuses and are recent casino floor introductions.
Players looking to win the top jackpots must play the maximum amount of coins. If less than the maximum is bet, then the player can only win a specified amount based on the coins played.
Slot tournaments are held at various times throughout the year. Entry is free and pre-registration is not required. Overall prizes range from $100 for Fifth Place to $1,500 for First Place. And now – no more dirty hands retrieving coins. The new “TITO” machines (Ticket In/Ticket Out) means getting a cash out receipt from the slots to be redeemed for cash value at the cashier’s cage.
Casino patrons can apply for slot credit by filling out an application form. Once approved, the player requests a “Counter Check” at the cashier’s cage. The Counter Check is a check drawn on a player’s personal or sole proprietor business checking account. The casino – depending on the check amount – will deposit the check in a 14 to 45 day period.
Counter Checks can be redeemed (repaid) prior to deposit. Slot winnings are applied to existing Counter Checks and should be redeemed after finishing slot play.
As with all casinos, patrons are encouraged to join the Delaware Park Player Rewards Club. Joining is free and offers benefits based on slot play. Valuable “comps” earned entitles club members to food and beverages, free valet parking, gift shop merchandise discounts, special invitations to exclusive events and promotions, sweepstakes entries, a complimentary newsletter mailed to the member’s home and other privileges.
Slot play points accumulated with a Player Rewards Club Membership can additionally be used at Delaware Park’s new retail outlet and catalog center. Club members’ comps can be applied to purchases of a wide variety of specialty items, and eligibility to play on the facility’s 18 hole championship golf course, the White Clay Creek Country Club.
Hungry patrons have many dining options at Delaware Park. The choices are wide:
a family picnic outdoors in the picnic grove next to the racetrack clubhouse
Legends – fine dining in a Victorian setting
Beefstro – featuring fresh carved roast beef and sandwiches
Rooney’s – deli specialties
On a Roll Deli - pizza and deli specialties
The Terrace Dining Room on the third floor of the clubhouse is open only during thoroughbred racing season. This restaurant offers formal dining overlooking the racetrack and management requires proper attire.
In addition, several snack bars are located throughout the area.
